Jeep

Jeep is an American car manufacturer owned since 2010 by the Stellantis Group, which was formed by the merger of Fiat-Chrysler in 2021. Founded by John North Willys, the first Jeep cars were four-wheel drive off-road vehicles used by the US Army during World War II.

The US government issued a tender in 1940 for a "light reconnaissance vehicle" to replace motorbikes and Ford T's. Specifications included a rectangular body, 4-wheel drive, folding windscreen, low beam, long-range headlights, a weight of 590kg and the ability to carry 227kg of equipment and a crew of 3.The term "Jeep" is often used to refer to all off-road vehicles with a rustic style, such as the popular models Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler.
